In January 2008 Jack, aged 16 and one of Billingham Rugby Club’s most talented younger players, was badly injured playing for their Under-17 team versus Darlington.
The injury, a broken neck, was sustained during a ruck. Despite the best efforts of the dedicated staff at The James Cook Hospital and Jack’s own very positive attitude, he has been diagnosed as “C6 Tetraplegic” and will be confined to a wheelchair and need constant supervision for the rest of his life.
Please help by sponsoring Tom Pailor to raise money for the Jack Smith Trust Fund on his latest long distance cycle ride.
Having, in the last few years, ridden from London to Paris, Coast to Coast C2C, and Lands End to John O’Groats, Tom has some experience in raising funds for charity and asks for your help and support when he leaves on 23rd May on his toughest ever challenge, for what he believes is his most worthy cause ever. The epic journey will take 16 days.
